Tega Cay's "Rules to Live By"

Animals

Tega Cay is a bird sanctuary.  Disturbing birds, shooting ducks, geese or any animal is prohibited.
bullet
Dogs must be on a leash or otherwise controlled.  Tags for both dogs and cats must be purchased annually.
Building/Renovation/Construction

Any home improvement in excess of $500 requires a city building permit.  Any structure changes to houses, decks, etc. requires a building permit.
bullet
Any dock, seawall, boat lifts, or waterfront construction or rebuilding requires City and Duke Power Company permits.
bullet
All fence installations require a City permit.
bullet
Any land disturbance requires a City permit detailing erosion control and tree replanting.
bullet
Cutting any tree 4" or larger in diameter requires a City permit.
bullet
A permit is required to install a satellite dish larger than three (3) feet in diameter, swimming pool, or detached building or structure.
Maintenance of Property

Rubbish, building materials, unregistered vehicles or unsafe conditions on occupied or vacant lots are strictly prohibited.

Boats, trailers, campers, or mobile homes cannot be parked on streets or driveways, parking pads or on the premises.

Short term parking permits, for special exeptions, can be obtained at the Police Department.

Storage space for trailers, campers or mobile homes can be leased at the lot next to the Police Department.

Outdoor drying of clothes is not permitted.

Large plants, rocks of landscaping timbers can be placed no closer than two feet from the edge of the street pavement.
Safety/Traffic Regulations

It is unlawful to litter.

Unless otherwise posted, the speed limit on all streets is 25 mph, 35 mph is permitted on the divided part of Tega Cay Drive.

Discharging of firearms within the City is prohibited.  The police may give approval to shoot poisonous snakes.

Discharging a BB gun, pellet gun or paintball gun in the direction of a person, dwelling, car or animal is prohibited.
Vehicle Registration

New residents must register vehicles in South Carolina within thirty (30) days.

Residents must register boats with South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department.
Garbage/Recyclable Materials

Household garbage must be segregated from recyclable items, deposited in secure containers and placed curbside for pickup on Tuesdays.

Recyclable items (newspaper, glass, aluminum cans and certain plastics) will be collected at curbside on Tuesdays.
bullet
The City will collect brush, leaves, grass clippings, etc. placed at the curb every Monday.   Certain items, such as refrigerators, stoves, dryers, furniture and large trees and construction materials require payment of a fee prior to removal.
